About Us

Durham Community Planners, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, community-based organization for the Town of Durham, Greene County, New York. Its mission is to promote improvements to the overall quality of life for residents. The idea for the organization came in autumn 2005 from the highly-successful "visioning" meetings for the Town of Durham Comprehensive Plan, where residents gathered to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the community, and to describe their visions for the Durham of the future. Our goal is to facilitate discussion of planning ideas, and to actively pursue implementation of those ideas. We seek to partner with the town, county, and state government agencies, and other non-profit groups with similar aims in the Hudson Valley and Catskill regions for the purpose of accomplishing our common goals. The focus of Durham Community Planners, Inc., is long-term projects related to social well-being, business development, tourism, and environmental quality.
